tczen - it's because, as far as he was concerned, she was pulling faces. Maybe he was just so awestruck by the performance that he didn't know what to say, or maybe he just doesn't recognize passion and theatricality. (I'd never even heard of 4 non blondes before I saw this, but it's the most inspired live performance of any song I've ever seen - pure heart and soul.)
