Salt Water into Fuel

Uploaded by: RockStarSoul
Video Description:
"5/22/2007 Retired TV station owner and broadcast engineer, John Kanzius, wasn't looking for an answer to the energy crisis. He was looking for a cure for cancer."
Sounds great, but Stan Meyer ended up dead somehow in the 90s when he invented his famous water powered car. I hope this guy lives long enough to get this invention into production.

why was this video taken off??!?!?!?! now how are great minds supposed to know how to recreate the experiment???? how will we ever know how to have saltwater-powered cars???
Good observation. ... ( 1 month ago by moppwns)
Good observation. But even if the machine burns regular water, you wouldn't want to. We need our fresh water to live, but salt water can be burned with no danger of running out. However, if we eventually get some unreal number of cars running on a daily basis, I could see us facing a problem of low water levels in the ocean. But we're talking some unimaginable amount of vehicles (depending on how much salt water is needed per vehicle). By then we'll have moved to another planet or something

I wish the news reporter wouldn't mislead people by acting like this is some kind of fuel source. The Laws of Thermodynamics don't work that way. It's cool looking, but it's just hydrolysis, and you can do the same thing in your kitchen with a 9-volt battery.

You do realize that ... ( 1 month ago by BugNuggets)
You do realize that the very reason this is impossible makes your concern irrelevent?
The process takes water, seperates it into Hydrogen and Oxygen and then burns those two gases to re-create water. Since no process is reversible, not to mention reversible with energy being extracted, this "discovery" is useless. But if you don't believe that, you can at least rest assured since
no water is consumed in this process, it's just changed from water to steam.

This is NOT a ... ( 1 month ago by astropj1)
This is NOT a solution to the energy crisis. The energy taken to power the Radio Frequency Generator (RFG) is more than the energy retreived from the burning hydrogen from the salt-water.
It is a great observation and will need more research to actually be of any use to science.
That's absolutely ... ( 3 weeks ago by mcbobery1234)
That's absolutely true, but if they can find a way to make the RFG more energy efficient, and find a system that produces more power from the flame with less wasted energy, it could be the solution... Possibly a hybrid generator of some type...

IF we did that, ... ( 3 weeks ago by q123477)
IF we did that, wouldn't we run out of water after a loong time. I mean, if it is BURNING then how could any water get back into the atmosphere to continue the water cycle?
The water isn't ... ( 2 weeks ago by Skelbley08)
The water isn't burning up. The hydrogen is burning. And the only way something can burn is in the presence of oxygen. So the hydrogen and oxygen are really combining and being released as water vapor back into the atmosphere.

It isn't a solution ... ( 2 weeks ago by cavebandit)
It isn't a solution YET! What nobody in postings like this ever seem to acknowledge is how much power goes into turning crude oil into gasoline, diesel, or home heating oil. Anyone that has done any serious research into hydrogen power knows that more energy will be used to make water a burnable fuel than will be gotten back. Same goes for oil!!!

Sorry this is so ... ( 1 week ago by captaintrebek)
Sorry this is so late, but the point is that even with 100% efficient conversion (which is especially impossible when you are using radio waves that are going to mostly MISS your target), you aren't producing energy, you are only converting it. The energy attained from breaking the water cannot be more than the energy used to break apart the water (e.g., the energy of the radio signal).
Just to reiterate ... ( 1 week ago by captaintrebek)
Just to reiterate some comments here, this is not a method of producing energy or capturing energy. It is a method of converting energy.

so if I have a big enough radio frequency generator I could turn the Earth into a ball of fire
Question is how ... ( 1 week ago by ZerqTM)
Question is how much energy is put into that radio frequensy.... I mean severing the chamical binding must logicaly take as much energy as is produced by binding them again.... mening 0 gan... as the machinery itself will be inherently inefective as all electronics are it will waste energy as well.... meaning this is probably only a good way of wasting energy and gaining a cool lightshow... there there is an energy loss in converting hte energy back into electricity again.
Well, yes obviously ... ( 5 days ago by angrysausage123)
Well, yes obviously it wont be perfect, but it could be refined and could be very efficient. I mean burning hydrogen is more effective than burning petrol right? Pretty sure anyway. And it could be cost effective whether or not it requires more energy than an ordinary engine does.
