Takes me back to 1960 - when i saw 'Jazz on a Summers Day' and then went and bought an EP with 'As Catch Can' from the 'City Radio' shop (only place that sold Jazz records then in SouthWales) in Churchill Way in Cardiff. ,,,,, Aaaah Memories .... of a VERY mis-spent youth!!

I understand now that I was a bit cryptic. The session with Art Farmer that produced 'As Cath Can', also included 'Utter Chaos', and I am convinced that with this piece Mulligan
Farmer wanted to show Ornette that they as 'elder statesmen' could also play free if they liked. Please bear in mind that the recording session took place in 1960 at the latest, so the shock of Ornette's playing was still fresh.
