Allot of people outside America are saying "Why are you complaining, we pay 7 to 8 dollars a gallon here." OK but I can almost bet you make allot more, if not double what I do. I can't afford to just go out and buy a new car. There's no buses or public transportation here where I live. No public rail.

Allot of people outside America are saying "Why are you complianing, we pay 7 or 8 dollars a gallon here." OK well I bet your making allot more, if not double what I make and can afford it. I can't afford to just go out and buy a new car. Theres no public transportation here where I live, no public rail system. All the jobs have gone to other countries. They pay some 12 y/o kid to make the jeans or whatever and ship them to America and sell them for $30.00 and they keep the profits.

Reducing fuel costs will be a mistake ... that only encourages waste. Biofuels are a bigger mistake. Improved fuel efficiency in the short term followed by development of technologies to ween American's off oil is the only solution.

well in a way this will be a good thing, because finally americans are realizing how they need to conserve gas. And buy hybrid cars...and which means we dont have to depend on those middle easterns gas anymore/ Hopefully electric or hydrogen cars will reach higher technology

Well as true as that may be, there are poor people in other countries too. I live in the UK where we pay approximately $13 a gallon. I myself am pretty well off for which i am thankful, but the poor over here are suffering too. At least you guys may have a good president soon and the whole world will appreciate it

why so down on big oil? they do what all companies do - make profits.
fault lies with all of us - WE built an infrastructure with densities too low to sustain public transit, WE chose not to invest in alternative sources even after the embargo in the 70's, and WE elected leaders who did nothing to relieve our dependence on foreign oil energy is the biggest issue th
is election- its the reason our economy is in shambles and the reason our foreign policy is now at the mercy Chavez/Ahmadinejad

i agree hopefully they do but will they? no because too many people in powerful places have so much money tied into oil so why would they want to fund an alternative fuel source when they are making so much by investing in big oil.

I could not agree more with many of these comments.
Remember when Gore proposed a $0.25 tax on gas to prepare for the future? It was crucified as a certain means to destroy the economy and ruin the American way of life.
Hmmm- Gas was 1.25 then. Where is it now?
Who has been in charge for 8 years?
Let Us Choose:
1. $1.75 gas with mass transit, alternative fuel sources and a comprehensive energy policy?
2. $4.75 gas and a plan to drill to drill off the coast of Santa Monica

Every canditate says that biodiesel is only a good thing. But there are huge problems concerning biodiesel. If it's made out of corn or other eatable plants, biodiesel would contribute a lot to the world wide hunger problems. Prices of corn would rise if more of it would be used for biodiesel. Other problems are the clearing of the rainforests for big monocultures that need a lot of fertilizer (often made of oil). The soils get leached out... Biodiesel is no sustainable energy!

Gas prices=Supply and Demand Energy security=Domestic energy rather than foreign oil. Solutions=Domestic oil (drill here)-yes, Nuclear Power-yes, Domestic Natural Gas-yes, Solar Power-yes, Wind Power-yes. Conserve-yes, but do not stifle economic productivity.

Hmm... Domestic oil? Really? Nuclear Power? Here? Now? Really? The environmental cost of both of those are staggering (possibly going to cause the end of humanity) and the economic cost of nuclear energy is mind blowing. Of course, not only that but more nuclear energy equals serious security issues as more nuclear facilities are built more nuclear weapons materials exist and that enables more people to more access to more dangerous weaponry. All of that is bad, really, really, fucking bad.
