How sad nowadays finding the original UK mix is sooo hard to find. One of my favourite parts where the sampled "Roadblock" was edited on the re-packaged copies of the single and song as well. The US mix is OK but the Uk version tops it all! Thank you for posting the original single version of this video a million and ONE!!!

This way we could ... ( 4 months ago by DanielLaszloKovacs)
This way we could mention Bach... I've checked Wikipedia. Double Dee
Steinski: hip-hop producers who achieved notoriety in the early 1980s for a series of sample-based collages known as the Lessons, which are still well-regarded today as early underground hip-hop classics. Although they never had a hit record... MARRS: "Pump Up the Volume" (1987) was ... a number-one hit in the UK and is generally regarded as a significant milestone in the development of British house music and music sampling.
Bach? What are you ... ( 4 months ago by dillikins)
Bach? What are you on about? As for M/A/R/R/S' influence on "British House", I'm a little skeptical on that one. Certainly British house (and I'm assuming you're referring to Acid House in particular) was more influenced by Detroit techno than "Pump Up The Volume", and other forms of house would have been more inspired by Chicago house. I'm curious - which of "today's many genres" were you referring to in your previous comment?
I was referring ... ( 4 months ago by DanielLaszloKovacs)
I was referring essentially to techno, house, and trance. But you're right in the sense that there is no one standalone origin - there must have been many-many influences which evolved today's music. Among them is this song (Pump up the Volume). But I think there is no debate in that its place is outstanding. It had a huge influence mainly due to its popularity. A peak of the "pyramid"...
God to think i was ... ( 3 months ago by beastbot)
God to think i was 17 when this record was hot..just some of tracks i remember feeling at the club at that particular moment were: cookie crew's "rok da house", public enemy "rebel without a pause", stetsasonic "talkin all that jazz", housemaster boyz "house nation", eric b "paid in full", rhythm is rhythm "the dance"
"nude photo"..there was just SO,SO much INCREDIBLE house AND hip hop AND rare groove AND detroit techno in '87-'88.. everyone was feeling it all together. Nothing like it since..
