You are absolutely right.Helen Forrest was the best. I have heard many singers in my life,but Helen's voice was special-so sweet, so natural,so beautiful! Besides Harry James,she also sang with Benny Goodman's band and Artie Shaw's band.Helen sounded wonderful no matter who she sang with.

I absolutely agree with you! I have heard many great singers over the years, but there is something special about Helen Forrest's voice. If you really like her, check out amazon music for some of ther cd's. I think you tube might have some of her songs. Enjoy Helen-she was really great!

I agree with you, completely. In recent years, I have started to enjoy big band music-Miller,James, shaw, Dorseys, Basie , etc. I really like the female singers with the bands:Martha Tilton, Marion Hutton, Jo Stafford, among others. But Helen Forrest possessed a special quality in her singing,just beautiful. I have many songs of hers in my collection and I love every one of them. Judging by your comment, You agree with me. Is she your favorite singer?

Harry James made many many recordings of this song, and while this one is superb, there's another version, instrumental only. It was the version used in the credits of Hannah and Her Sisters. In that version, you hear James attack the melody..listen here at :08 and again at :38. He tears into the song like a tornado, leaving even his own orchestra in the dust. James could make a trumpet talk. No one, including Beiderbecke and Marsalis, had a tone like his, like ringing a bell. A true gent too
