Hmm... instead of wasting money doing J$ck$ss stunts that don't impress anyone, money could be well spent improving the design of the ugliest notebook on the market. Then again to tell you the truth if my notbook was as ugly as a thinkpad - then I'd probably want to bash it and smash it as well.

Ugly??? Thinkpads are beautiful. The only knock I can think of is the recent off-center screens, but that's not a major change either.

Damn right.
Thinkpads may look plain and are definitely uncomparable to the eye candy Sony VAIOs, but that's the most beautiful part of it. Thinkpads are supposed to be pure, rugged, durable machines that is all about getting the job done. A lot of folks hate to see Lenovo kill the Thinkpad tradition, that
is, black case + red trackpoint. By the way, I am unimpressed with the video, the the biker did some bunny hops, then log into Windows, I'd be impressed.

Come on... lets be honest, most people (who don't work for IBM or Lenovo) tend to agree that the Think pad is an angular outdated-looking monstrosity; it's not its performance or motor bike proof endurance (I can see that being a priority in the office) that I'm questioning, nor am I suggesting they take Sony's approach, just rather they make it a little easier on the eye.

Perhaps some of the Thinkpad fanboys won't agree with me, but if the Thinkpad's appearance was even half as good as it's performance (or motor-bike proof-ness) then perhaps they'd be onto something. I mean come on, don't tell me the IBM/Lenovo executives haven't heard of balancing form and function? Nevermind, they obviously have heard of balancing a 'light hobbit-rode motorbike' on one of there notebooks.

I love Thinkpad X- and T-series' no-nonsense and sleek styling. However, Thinkpad R-series is a bit bulky.
Sony notebooks, except the Vaio C and Vaio N, are also also quite nicely designed. Alienware and Dell are just garish.

I LOVE the ThinkPad T series. Durable and rugged. I also like that my screen doesn't wobble and my keyboard doesn't feel like it's about to break at any moment. Rock solid. I also LIKE the way it looks. It doesn't have some kinda UFO/ultra futuristic design, it has a very nice conservative black box design. I like it black.

Just got a new R61 and it's rock solid. Huge difference in feeling compared to my previous acer. A laptop doesn't need to be easy on the eyes, it needs to be functional, easy to use and solid. If you want eye candy instead of durability, go buy an overpriced vaio.

thinkpads are not just square black cases, you need to look closely and even need to feel and THINK to appreciate its beauty. This is exactly why it is not a cheap looking that catch eyes with meaningless colors and foolish curvatures, those are for teenage kids, not for a man who thinks.
